Round and Round and Round She Goes

Suzaku Astro-E2 is in orbit! We are all very very happy! The orbital parameters are all nominal, and as far as we can tell everything is working perfectly! After 10 years of work, we win!

Now the real work begins, as we calibrate it and work out the details of how to get the best possible science out of the data we get back. But right now we're just happy!

I Like the Way You Walk, I Like the Way You Talk

The mission name is "Suzaku," which is a Chinese (adopted by Japanese) god in the shape of a red phoenix. Here is a picture of SUZAKU drawn on the wall in Kitora tomb which is found in Asuka village in Nara prefecture.
