About the Suzaku Learning Center

The Suzaku (formerly Astro-E2) Learning Center is an educational site about the Japanese-US X-ray Astronomy satellite, Suzaku (what does this name mean?)

It is intended for high school students and teachers, and for curious adults. We explain why we have built this satellite. We also show how the instruments work. We outline what we hope to discover with Suzaku, and will add actual discoveries once the satellite starts taking data. We'd like you to get to know the people behind this project, too.

The "Education" section of our site features products and activities that are designed for classroom use and are linked to US education standards. The rest of the site is more appropriate for informal education and casual browsing.

Professional astronomers should visit
