Launch of Suzaku (Astro-E2)
(launch.mov)

Movie
Movie (1.9 MB)
Run Time: 3 min 45 sec

VIDEOAUDIO
This video opens with a view of the rocket on the launch pad. We briefly see the view down the rocket toward the ground. There is a timer in the upper left hand corner which marks the minutes and seconds before and then after launch.

The rocket lifts off. We see footage taken from the ground and from a camera mounted on the side of the rocket looking down. From the second, we see the ground recede into the distance, and the flame from the rocket engine. We soon see clouds and continue to gain in altitude.

When the timer in the upper left corner reads approximately "02:35", the earth swings to the left, and we see the limb of the earth passing below.

The view then shifts to cameras looking up toward the nose cone of the rocket. The nose cone is jettisoned in two halves. Shortly afterward, the third stage is fired and moves away.

We hear a count-down in Japanese before launch, and a count-up after launch.
