The Wait is Almost Over!

Ever since the announcement of the launch delay in November 2004, the Astro-E2 team has been waiting for the new launch date. We now have an exciting update about this from Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA).

JAXA says that they will launch Astro-E2 as early as June 26, 2005, Japanese time. The launch can happen any time between June 26 and July 15, or between July 22 and August 2, but JAXA is aiming for the early part of the first period.

The Astro-E2 team is really excited. They have been working hard so the satellite and the instruments will be ready for launch. In fact, the satellite is being shipped to the launch site shortly, and we plan to post updates from the launch site regularly in the coming weeks.

Update on 2005 June 1: It has been announced that the launch will be no earlier than July 6, 2005.
