San Francisco Students Win!

The results of the Astro-E2 student competition are in. And the winners are a group of 8 students at the Lick-Wilmerding High School in San Francisco, with their physics teacher, Dr. Mark Hurwitz.

The competition was to write an "observing proposal," much like professional astronomers do, to use Astro-E2. To win the competition, the students had to decide what type of object to observe, find out what specific questions about the object Astro-E2 will be able to address, and write it up with a plan of what to do if they do get the data.

The judges were unanimous in naming the Lick-Wilmerding High School team the winners. Read more about the winning team and their proposal in the official press release.
